Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
I offer a transformative therapeutic approach known as Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in partnership with Journey Clinical. Utilizing the therapeutic benefits of ketamine, this service is designed to help individuals struggling with conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more. Under the guidance of licensed professionals, ketamine is administered in a controlled, safe environment, offering new pathways to healing and well-being.
I handle the psychotherapy sessions, while Journey Clinical's medical team manages all medical aspects. They ensure the safe and effective use of ketamine, handling patient eligibility, prescriptions, and monitoring. This team-based approach provides personalized treatment plans to meet your individual needs.
How Does Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Work?
-
Initial Consultation with Journey Clinical
-
Schedule an initial evaluation with a Journey Clinical clinician via Zoom. They will review your medical and psychiatric history, provide treatment education, and determine if you are eligible for KAP.
-
If eligible, Journey Clinical will create a personalized ketamine prescription and monitoring plan. A small amount of oral ketamine will be sent to your home for the first 2 KAP sessions. You will be taught how to take your vitals and self-administer the ketamine lozenges.
-
-
Preparation Sessions
-
After receiving your ketamine lozenges, we will schedule preparation sessions. These are regular therapy sessions aimed at setting intentions and preparing for the KAP dosing sessions.
-
-
KAP Dosing Session
-
The ketamine dosing session lasts 2-3 hours. During this session, you will take the ketamine lozenge and relax in a comfortable position with an eye mask and calming music. I will be present to support you throughout the session.
-
-
Integration Sessions
-
After the dosing session, we will have integration sessions to discuss the insights and experiences from the dosing session and prepare for future sessions. These sessions help you process the experience and continue working towards your treatment goals.
-
-
Follow-up Consultations with Journey Clinical
-
Journey Clinical will schedule regular follow-ups to monitor your progress and manage ketamine refills. These follow-ups occur at least once every three months.

FAQ
-
What is Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)? Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) combines the use of ketamine, a dissociative anesthetic, with traditional psychotherapy techniques. This approach can provide rapid relief from symptoms of mental health disorders and promote profound personal insights. Journey Clinical’s in-house medical team takes on patient eligibility, prescriptions, and outcome monitoring while I focus on the therapy.
-
What should I expect during a KAP session? During a KAP session, you will be in a comfortable and safe setting. The ketamine dosing session typically lasts 2-3 hours. You will be monitored by a trained professional throughout the process to ensure your safety and to guide you through the experience.
-
How Does Ketamine Feel? The effects of ketamine, which most patients find pleasant, last for approximately 45 minutes. These effects can make you feel “far from” your body, and facilitate shifts in perception that can often feel expansive in nature. Your motor and verbal abilities will be reduced, so you’ll be lying down in a comfortable position during the experience. Once these effects subsided, we’ll spend the remainder of our appointment giving you space to process and discuss your experience. While it may feel hard to articulate what happened during the experience, patients feel like the insights gained are none-the-less clear. Studies have shown that the benefits to mood and neurological growth can last up to two weeks after the Ketamine experience.
